Updated 4 November 2026
To undo griefing on a Minecraft server, install the free CoreProtect plugin and roll the damage back with one command, for example co rollback u:Griefer t:2h r:20: everything that player did in the last 2 hours within 20 blocks of you is put back. CoreProtect can only undo what happened after it was installed, so put it on before you invite anyone.
Commands were checked on 29 October 2026 against the official CoreProtect documentation (docs.coreprotect.net). On Modrinth, CoreProtect lists support for Paper, Purpur, Spigot and Folia, up to Minecraft 26.3.
Step 1: install CoreProtect
- In SparkPanel, open Plugins, search for CoreProtect and install it. On a new Paper server, Settings → Quick setup → Survival with friends installs it for you.
- Restart the server. From now on CoreProtect logs who placed or broke which block, who took what from which chest, and more.
CoreProtect is a plugin, so it needs Paper (our default) or Purpur. On Fabric, Forge or NeoForge you use a mod instead; on those servers, rely on backups.
Step 2: find out who did it
- Inspector: type
/co iin the game. Now left-click a block to see who placed or broke it, and right-click a chest to see who took or added items. Type/co iagain to stop. - Lookup:
/co lookup u:Name t:1dlists what a player did in the last day. Lookups search the whole server by default.
Step 3: roll it back
| Situation | Command |
|---|---|
| One player wrecked a build, last 2 hours, near you | co rollback u:Griefer t:2h r:20 |
| Same, but everywhere on the server | co rollback u:Griefer t:2h r:#global |
| Someone emptied chests | co rollback u:Griefer t:1d a:container |
| Only put back what was broken | co rollback u:Griefer t:1d a:-block |
| Fire or TNT damage near you (all players) | co rollback t:30m r:15 |
| Oops, wrong rollback | co undo |
The parts mean: u: user, t: time (30m, 2h, 5d2h), r: radius in blocks around you, a: action. If you leave out r:, a rollback uses a radius of 10 blocks around you. co restore with the same parameters puts rolled-back changes back.
co lookup with the same parameters first. If the list matches what you expected, run the rollback.Step 4: keep the griefer out
- Ban:
ban Griefer Griefing. Remove them from the whitelist too:whitelist remove Griefer. - Turn the whitelist on if it wasn't:
whitelist on. See whitelist, op and bans and public or private. - Was it someone with OP? Take it away with
deop Nameand use ranks instead: ranks with LuckPerms.
When CoreProtect can't help: backups
Damage from before CoreProtect was installed, or a corrupted world, can only be fixed with a backup. In SparkPanel under Backups, Restore puts the whole server back to that moment; everything built after it is lost. That's why a rollback with CoreProtect is usually better: it only undoes the griefer's actions. Besides your own backup slots, we make an encrypted backup of every server each night at a separate location.
Keeping the database small
CoreProtect stores its log on your server's disk. On a busy server it grows over time. Remove old data now and then, for example everything older than 30 days: co purge t:30d.
Which plan?
CoreProtect is light. Choose by players and plugins: 2 GB (€1.89 per month paid per quarter, €2.19 monthly billing, 1 backup slot) for a few friends, 4 GB (€4.19 / €4.39, 2 backup slots) for 5 to 15 players or a public server. See Minecraft server hosting and the best plugins for a small server.
Frequently asked questions
How do I undo griefing on my Minecraft server? Install CoreProtect, then use co rollback u:PlayerName t:2h r:20 to undo what that player did in the last 2 hours within 20 blocks. Use r:#global for the whole server.
Can CoreProtect undo griefing from before I installed it? No. It only logs what happens after installation. For older damage, restore a backup.
How do I see who broke a block? Type /co i to turn on the inspector, then left-click the block. Right-click a chest to see who took items.
Can I undo a rollback? Yes. co undo reverses your last rollback, and co restore with the same parameters puts changes back.
Does CoreProtect work on Bedrock or modded servers? No. It's a plugin for Paper, Purpur, Spigot and Folia. Bedrock players who join a Paper server through Geyser are logged like everyone else.
