With LuckPerms you decide exactly who can do what on your Minecraft server: players build, helpers can kick, admins can do everything. Much safer than giving everyone operator (OP). This guide sets up three ranks in 10 minutes.
1. Install LuckPerms
Download LuckPerms for Bukkit from luckperms.net, upload the .jar to plugins under Files in SparkPanel and restart. Most plugins check permissions, so the commands below work with EssentialsX, WorldEdit and others.
Type the commands in the SparkPanel Console without the / at the start, or in the game with / once you're an admin.
2. Make the ranks
Every player is in the group default. Make two more:
lp creategroup helper
lp creategroup admin
lp group helper parent add default
lp group admin parent add helper
The parent lines mean a helper can do everything a normal player can, and an admin everything a helper can.
3. Give each rank permissions
A few examples with EssentialsX:
lp group default permission set essentials.home true
lp group default permission set essentials.sethome true
lp group default permission set essentials.tpa true
lp group helper permission set essentials.kick true
lp group helper permission set essentials.mute true
lp group admin permission set * true
The * gives admins every permission. Only give that to people you really trust. A plugin's page lists its permissions, usually as pluginname.something.
4. Put players in a rank
lp user Steve parent add helper
lp user Alex parent add admin
Remove a rank with lp user Steve parent remove helper. Check what someone has with lp user Steve info.
Easier: the web editor
Type lp editor. LuckPerms gives you a link to a website where you click permissions together. When you're done, press Save and paste the command it shows into the console.
A rank name in chat
lp group admin meta setprefix "&c[Admin] "
lp group helper meta setprefix "&a[Helper] "
To show the prefix in chat you also need a chat plugin, such as EssentialsX Chat. More useful plugins: Best Minecraft plugins for a small server.
