To play on your Minecraft server with friends you need one thing: the server address. It consists of a name (or IP address) and a port. This page explains where to find it, how to share it and what to do when joining doesn't work.
Where do I find my address?
Open your server in SparkPanel and go to Network. Your address is there, for example:
g-de-08.serverspark.nl:25567
- The part before the colon is the name of the machine your server runs on.
- The number after it is the port: it tells the machine it's about your server. Several servers run on one machine, each on its own port.
Joining with Minecraft Java (PC and laptop)
- Start Minecraft and choose Multiplayer → Add Server.
- Under Server Address, enter the whole address including the port:
g-de-08.serverspark.nl:25567. - Click Done and double-click your server.
Joining with Minecraft Bedrock (tablet, phone, console, Windows app)
- Go to Play → Servers → Add Server.
- Bedrock has two separate fields: under Server Address enter only the name (
g-de-08.serverspark.nl), and under Port the number (25567). - Click Save and choose your server.
Playing Bedrock on a Java server through Geyser? Then use the port Geyser uses; see Let Bedrock players join with Geyser.
Sharing the address with friends
- Copy the address from SparkPanel and send it through WhatsApp or Discord. That avoids typos.
- Only share it with people you know, and turn the whitelist on if you want to keep strangers out: see whitelist, op and bans.
Using your own domain name (Java)
Have your own domain, for example myserver.com? Then players can join with play.myserver.com, without a port. Create an SRV record at your domain provider:
- Name:
_minecraft._tcp.play(some providers ask for service_minecraft, protocol_tcp, nameplay) - Priority
0, weight5, port: your port (for example25567) - Target:
g-de-08.serverspark.nl
After a few minutes to an hour, play.myserver.com works in Minecraft Java. Check it with our Minecraft server status tool. Bedrock doesn't support SRV records; Bedrock players use the address with the port.
Can't join?
- Is the server on? Check in SparkPanel that it's "Online" and that the console has finished starting.
- Is the port right? Compare the number with SparkPanel (Network).
- Same version? A player on a newer or older Minecraft version can't join; the console shows which version the server runs.
- Whitelist? If the whitelist is on, add the player.
- School or work network? These often block other ports; try at home or on mobile data.
The status tool shows whether your server can be reached from outside. Still stuck? Email info@serverspark.nl.
