Updated 26 October 2026

This guide shows how to set up your Core Keeper server: how friends join with the Game ID, your world settings and how to bring your own world. You change the settings in SparkPanel under Settings.

1. Join with the Game ID

Core Keeper doesn't use an address but a Game ID.

  1. Start your server in SparkPanel and wait until it is online. The first start takes a few minutes.
  2. Find the Game ID in the console, or open GameID.txt in Files.
  3. In Core Keeper, choose Join game and enter the Game ID.
Leave Game ID under Settings empty: the server makes one itself and keeps it.

2. World settings

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. World Name is the name of your world, World Seed decides how a new world is generated (0 = random), and World Mode sets the game mode.
  3. Max Players is how many players can be online at once.
  4. Restart the server.

3. Bring your own world

  1. On your PC, open %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Pugstorm\Core Keeper\Steam\, then the folder with your Steam ID, then worlds. Each world is a file such as 0.world.gzip.
  2. Stop the server.
  3. In SparkPanel, go to Files and open .config/unity3d/Pugstorm/Core Keeper/DedicatedServer/worlds. Upload your world file.
  4. In Settings, set World Index to the number in the file name (for 2.world.gzip that is 2).
  5. Start the server.

4. Backups

We make a backup of your server every night. Before big changes, make an extra one via Backups → Create backup.

Which plan?

4 GB is enough for most groups. Take 6 GB for mods or very large worlds; you can upgrade at any time.
