Updated 4 November 2026

This guide shows how to set up your Enshrouded server: the name and password, how friends join, how many players fit and how backups work. You change the settings in SparkPanel under Settings.

1. The first start

After your order the server installs the game by itself, which takes a few minutes. Then it starts and creates a new world. It's ready when the console shows a line with HostOnline.

2. Name and password

  1. Open your server in SparkPanel and go to Settings.
  2. Server Name is the name players see in the server list. Pick something your friends can find easily.
  3. Fill in Server Password if only your friends may join. Leave it empty for an open server.
  4. Max Players is how many players can be online at once. Enshrouded allows up to 16.
  5. Restart the server.

3. Join your server

  1. Start Enshrouded and choose Play, then Join.
  2. Search for your server name in the list and select it.
  3. Enter the password if you set one, and choose or create a character.

Can't find it? Check in SparkPanel that the server is running and that the console shows HostOnline. A fresh server can take a minute or two to show up in the list.

4. Ports

Your server has its own ports. You don't need to set anything: the query port that the game uses is filled in for you, and it's locked so it can't be changed by mistake.

5. Backups and your own world

We make a backup of your server every night. Before big changes, make an extra one via Backups → Create backup. Your world is in the savegame folder under Files. Want to move a world from your own PC to the server? That takes a few extra steps; open a ticket and we'll do it with you.

Which plan?

6 GB works well for groups of up to about 8 players. Take 8 GB for a full 16-player server or a world with lots of big bases. You can upgrade from 6 GB to 8 GB at any time in the portal; your world stays where it is.
